‘Govt working to prevent blasphemous material from appearing on social media’

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman on Monday said that the government is working to prevent blasphemous materials using on social media.

“Elements involved in circulation of blasphemous and sacrilegious content on social media will be dealt with iron hands,” he said in an interview.

To a query, the state minister said that the FIR has been registered against the accused persons in the incident of lynching of a student at Wali Khan University Mardan and 16 accused persons have been arrested.  He said any individual or crowd will never be allowed to take law into their hands.

To another question, he said that the government has taken bold steps for improvement of educational system in the country.

A large mob attacked journalism student Mashal Khan last Thursday, stripping, beating and shooting him before throwing from the second floor of his hostel at the Abdul Wali Khan university in Mardan.

He said the preparation of national education curriculum is under process and lessens of tolerance on view points of others are also being included in the curriculum.
