Had declined bookies’ offer, Irfan, Khalid Latif tell FIA

LAHORE: Islamabad United players Muhammed Irfan and Khalid Latif on Monday told Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) that they had declined offer of bookies for spot-fixing during Pakistan Super League 2017, ARY News reported.

Sources said both the players have recorded the same statement they had recorded with Pakistan Cricket Board’s Anti-Corruption Unit.

Both the players admitted that though they were approached by bookies, however they had declined to accept that right on the spot.

Irfan said he could not report about the offer of spot-fixing because he was under mental stress following his parents’ deaths recently.

Khalid Latif said he was offered Rs4 million, which he had declined.

Nasir Jamshed was also summoned, but he could not show up because he is out of country. While, Shahzaib Hasan and Sharjeel Khan will record their statements with FIA on Tuesday.

After Sharjeel Khan and Shahzaib Hasan will record their statements, mobile date of the accused players will also be collected.

According to the PCB rules, the player who receives spot-fixing offer has to immediately report to Anti-Corruption Unit of PCB. If a player fails to report the incident, he is liable to punishment.
