Healthcare dept approves health insurance scheme in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Specialized Healthcare Department has given approval in principle for launch of Health Insurance Scheme in 19 districts of the province.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid in Lahore on Sunday.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Yasmeen Rashid said under the scheme, financial protection would be provided to low-income people.

She directed for completing the file work at earliest to get formal approval for the scheme from the provincial cabinet.

A week ago after taking the oath for the health minister’s office, Yasmeen Rashid vowed to bring meaningful changes in the health sector within 100 days.

“We all will follow the policy guidelines issued by Prime Minister Imran Khan and as far as health sector is concerned, people will see meaningful reforms within 100 days,” said the minister.
