High-level UAE delegation calls on foreign minister

ISLAMABAD: A high-level UAE delegation comprising chief executive officers/ senior officials of major companies and headed by Minister of State and CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Dr Sultan Aljaber called on Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday.

The delegation includes heads/ representatives of Mobadla Petroleum, ADIA (sovereign wealth funds), Etisalat, DP World, Dubai Investment Authority, Emaar Company, Aldahra Agriculture and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. It was on a one-day visit to Pakistan, on the invitation of Mehmood Qureshi.

The visit is a follow-up of the prime minister’s visit to Abu Dhabi on September 19 and his understanding with Crown Prince Sheikh Muhammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to forge closer economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries in all areas of common interest.

Welcoming the delegation, the foreign minister observed that the visit was an indication of a new beginning in the bilateral relations and would increase the UAE’s footprint in a number of sectors in Pakistan.

Lauding the excellence achieved by the UAE in renewable energy, petroleum and petrochemicals, sea water desalination, agricultural research, infrastructure development and hospitality industry, in a short span of time, he urged greater cooperation between the two countries in those areas for sharing experiences and best practices.

Looking forward to the much anticipated visit of Muhammad Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan to Pakistan, he expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of bilateral relations, following the PM’s visit to Abu Dhabi last month.

Referring to the Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s invitation for participation in Sir BaniYas Forum next month, FM Qureshi expressed his keen desire to engage closely with UAE leadership, to bring the two brotherly countries and their people closer together.

He conveyed his profound regards and best wishes for the leadership of UAE and his prayers for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of its brotherly people.
