Hundreds reach Lahore hospitals after overeating meat on Eid-ul-Azha

LAHORE: Lahore’s major hospitals are receiving hundreds of patients with different complaints after the first day of Eid-ul-Azha with most of them suffering from a stomachache, ARY News reported on Sunday.

As of the second day of Eid, a number of people arrived at the hospitals with some complaining about a stomachache, some with bones stuck in their teeth and others had high blood cholesterol.

According to hospital sources, Mayo Hospital received at least 170 patients while Services Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Ganga Ram and General Hospital received 135, 78, 65 and 120 such patients respectively.

Nawaz Sharif Hospital also received 35, Government Mozang Hospital had 13 while Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital received 42 patients.

This festival is all about making a sacrifice in the name of Allah but for many of us, it is only about eating meat, in fact, a lot of meat.

This year, please be patient and good to your health because, trust us, the meat will not evaporate away.

Every year, doctors warn of overeating meat on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, when affluent Muslims sacrifice goats and cows.

Red meat, anyway, is not good for health reasons. Therefore, during Eid-ul-Azha and beyond, avoid eating too much red meat because it causes food poisoning, coronary heart diseases, and strokes. Red meat (beef, lamb, and mutton) is also high in cholesterol; therefore, you must avoid the fatty part.
