I was more concerned about my English hat than war, Bushra recounts 1965 saga

“I was at school in Lahore. I was 8 then in grade three and Saba Hameed (Family Front actress) was my class-fellow. I used to hang my darling hat, which I carried along, on a door of my class.

“When a bomb exploded, we were ordered to go back to homes. I was too young to fathom what was going on. My grandma lived nearby, so I went to hers. It was then I realized that I had left my hat in school. When people were worried about their lives, I was crying for my hat.”

While speaking during an ARY News program on Defence Day, she also acknowledged the fact that national songs played a pivotal role in the war of 1965. Bushra, who started her career as a child actor in 1960s, sang a national song on this occasion as well.
