Iftikhar Chaudhary to file defamation case against Imran

The ex-CJ has now decided to resort to legal action and file defamation case against Imran,

The PTI chief had alleged the former CJ of his involvement in the general elections on May 11, 2013.

On July 25, the former chief justice had sent a Rs20 billion defamation notice to the PTI chairman for ‘leveling false allegations’.

However, in a written response to the notice, Imran’s lawyers said he did not mean to “abuse or disrespect any member of the judiciary”, and urged the former chief justice to “reconsider the idea of entering into personal litigation”.

The letter, filed by Advocate Hamid Khan and dated August 2, said: “Our client has high respect and regard for the judiciary as an institution and would continue to do so in the future.

In a latest development, the ex-CJ has rejected the reply of Imran against his defamation notice.

The defamation case will be filed in the first week of October, said lawyer of the Mr. Chaudhary.
