ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Monday exonerated an accused of killing his wife due to lack of evidences after almost six years, ARY News reported.
After hearing the arguments of both the defence and prosecution sides, IHC’s judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar here on today, acquitted Shafaquat, the accused owing to lack of concrete evidences.
Declaring Shafaquat, innocent, the IHC suspended his life imprisonment sentence, which was awarded to him by a lower court.
Shafaquat’s brother-in-law had alleged him of killing her wife, Fakhira while his son had given testimony in favour of his father.
Fakhira was killed in the jurisdiction of Tarnol Police Station in 20113. However, a lower court judge Raja Asif had handed over life imprisonment sentence to Shafaquat in 2016.

Earlier, Islamabad district and session court on February 26, had acquitted husband in wife’s killing case, giving him the benefit of doubt.
After hearing the arguments of both the defence and prosecution sides, Additional Session Judge Muhammad Jahangir had acquitted Muhammad Nabi in a murder case giving him the benefit of doubt.
Shams Colony police had taken Muhammad Nabi into custody over killing his wife in January 2018.
