IHC stops DC from supervising development work

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday stopped the deputy commissioner from supervising development work in the federal capital, ARY News reported.

The high court wondered that how the DC was making do development work in presence of the mayor and the local government. The court has sought reply from the federation and the DC.

The chairman Union Council-34 had challenged jurisdiction of the DC’s authority. The case was heard by the IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah.

The IHC also ordered to stop the tender for the water supply scheme. The court has given the centre one week’s time for reply.

The hearing of the case has been adjourned for one week till next Friday.

On January 1, Punjab’s Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan had said that the best local government system would be introduced in Punjab very soon.

This he had said, while chairing a joint meeting of Lahore Waste Management Company and Albarak & Ozpak in Lahore.

“The new local bodies system will benefit the people hailing from rural and urban areas of Punjab equally,” the minister had continued.

During the meeting, Aleem Khan had expressed his resentment over the situation of cleanliness in Lahore.

He had given zonal officers ultimatum of two weeks with clear instructions of making the city better otherwise they should get ready to face the music.
