IHC serves contempt notice to Pervez Rathore

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued contempt notice to acting Chairman of PEMRA, Pervez Rathore and ordered him file a written explanation within 10 days, or to appear before the court in person – ARY News reports.

According to details, the hearing of a petition filed against acting PEMRA Chief, was held at the IHC on Friday. Justice Noor ul Haq Qureshi issued notice to Pervez Rathore, over court’s contempt.

The IHC ordered Rathore to file an explanation within 10 days or to appear before the court in person.

Private members of PEMRA authority, Israr Abbasi and Fariha Iftikhar had filed a contempt of court petition against Pervez Rathore.

They had taken the stance that Rathore was illegally appointed as the PEMRA Chairman.

Israr Abbasi while presenting his arguments, had said that Pervez Rathore is working on the post, against the court orders.

Rathore had appointed Dr Jabbar as DG Technical on June 9, while he also issued circular regarding official affairs of PEMRA on June 10 and issued several directives as the acting PEMRA Chairman.

Moreover, the IHC adjourned the hearing of the case for 10 days.
