IHC withdraws services of judge accused in child maid torture case

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday withdrew the services of Raja Khurram Ali Khan, a judge accused of torturing a 10- year-old girl who worked as a maid at his house, ARY News reported.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan and his wife are facing an inquiry over alleged torture on Tayyaba, a child maid working in their house.
According to the notification issued by IHC registrar Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan, Khurram Ali Khan’s services from the Civil District and Sessions Division-East Islamabad have been withdrawn.
“The Honourable Chief Justice and Judges of this court have been pleased to withdraw the services of Raja Khurram Ali Khan,” reads the notification.
Back in December, the pictures of the 10-year old housemaid Tayyaba went viral on social media with internet users claiming that the maid works at additional session judge Khurram Ali Khan’s house and was severely tortured by the family of the judge.
On January 2, Tayyaba was recovered from judge’s house. In her first statement, the girl claimed that she fell from stairs but in the statement recorded for the First Information Report (FIR), the maid stated that she was tortured by the judge’s family.
On January 3, a man claiming to be Tayyaba’s father pardoned the judge’s family appeared in the court on Tuesday and pardoned the judge’s family.
However, on January 4, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar took suo motu notice of the case and ordered Registrar Islamabad High Court (IHC) to present a detailed report regarding the incident.
