ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Thursday reserved its verdict on the plea seeking removal of erstwhile spymaster Lt Gen (retd) Asad Durrani’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL), ARY News reported.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the case pertaining to removal of the ex-inter service intelligence (ISI) chief’s name from the ECL.

A representative of the Ministry of Defence Brigadier Falak Naz submitted a sealed inquiry report to the court. The inquiry was conducted on the former spymaster’s writing a book along with a former Indian spy agency chief.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani read the report and returned it to the representative of the ministry.

Brigadier Falak Naz apprised the court that inquiry against Asad Durrani had been completed, which included recommendations for not removing Asad Durrani’s name from the ECL.

Counsel of the former-ISI chief Umer Farrukh Adam asked the court if it would court-martial his client for writing a book. Upon which, Kayani said there was no such thing in the report.

Umer Farrukh Adam said his client had retired from his post in 1993, while he wrote the book on the basis of analysis in 2018. He said there was nothing wrong in this as former president general (retd) Pervez Musharraf had also written a book.
