Imam in Srinagar sends legal notice to director of 'Haider'

According to Indian media, Imam Ghulam Hassan Shah of Kund has thrteatened to take Vishal Bharadwaj to court for using his footage in ‘Haider’ claiming that he was tricked into becoming a part of the film.

Haider has a scene which portrayed Nikkah Ceremony of Bollywood actors Tabu and Kay Kay Menon, which featured Ghulam Hassan Shah in it without his consent.

“I was told footage featuring him will be used for educational purposes, but it was used in the film instead”, sources quoted Imam as saying.

As per reports, Ghulam Hassan Shah has lost his job for solemnizing the marriage of Tabu and Kay Kay in the film. And, he is now demanding Rs. 50 lakh in compensation or an apology in national press for defaming him in the movie.

Haider – starring Shahid Kapoor in the key role and co-stars Tabu, Shraddha Kapoor and Kay Kay Menon, with Irrfan Khan making a special appearance, is one the biggest hit of 2014.

The film was directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, and co-written by Basharat Peer and Bhardwaj.
