Imran barred from entering shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar

SEHWAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan was on Sunday barred from entering the shrine of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan Sharif.

The PTI chairman visited the shrine to pay his respects after addressing a successful public gathering in the city.

PTI Sindh spokesman Jamal Siddiqui said that the door of the shrine was opened despite their strong insistence, while police officials said that they received order to close the shrine.

Imran Khan returned after visiting the shrine. The spokesman said that that obstacles were created from holding the public gathering and now they were prevented from visiting the shrine.

Giving his reaction over the incident, Imran Khan said that Asif Zardari is fearful of the PTI success in Sindh, and is using such tactics to stop them, and even resorting to close the doors of the shrine.

PTI vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said they incident exposes the so-called democratic face of the PPP. He said the it is shameful how the PPP is reacting to the growing popularity of the PTI in Sindh.

“First they (PPP) created hurdles in PTI Jalsa later barred us from entering the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar,” he said adding that people of Sindh have given a clear message to Zardari and his cronies.

Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro Fareeduddin said that Imran Khan was not stopped from entering the shrine but rather his armed guards were prevented as it violates the sanctity of the shrines.
