PM Imran approves to constitute third accountability court: sources

ISLAMABAD: Keeping in view the rising number of references, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday gave green signal to set up a third accountability court at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad, sources told ARY News.

According to the sources, minister of law had issued a notification giving approval for constitution of third accountability court in the federal capital. However, an inspection team had visited Judicial Complex thrice to allocate place for the court.

The sources further said that the current two accountability courts were hearing over 120 cases and added that the constitution of a new court was necessary to ease the work burden on the courts.

The decision to constitute a new court, had been taken last week in a high-level meeting at the Judicial Complex, the sources said and added that accountability judges and officials of law ministry had participated in the meeting.

The two accountability courts were hearing mega corruption cases of former president Asif Ali Zardari, former prime ministers Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and others.
