According to Daily Mail, Khan texted his wife ‘talaq’ (the Arabic term for ‘I divorce you’) written three times. This was followed by a brief email.
The report claimed that Reham saw the message after getting off the plane hat had taken her from Pakistan to Birmingham. She also reportedly also received a confirmation call from Imran’s chief of staff.
“Reham was met by senior officials of her husband’s political party and driven to London, where one of Imran’s closest confidants began negotiating a financial settlement to annul the brief marriage.”
The report cites an insider as saying that Reham immediately set about taking over Imran’s palatial hilltop house, the Bani Gala palace, telling friends it had been an ‘unruly and ill-disciplined household’.
Her first major change, according to the Daily Mail report, was to throw Imran’s beloved pet dogs from his bedroom. ‘They were no longer allowed to sleep in their master’s inner sanctum or even be there during the daytime,’ another source said. ‘Imran was upset when she had them shifted to a room outside the house and refused to budge despite his pleas.
‘Then the house was re-arranged to suit the needs of Reham’s youngest daughter who lived there, as well as the elder daughter and son, who often visited. Members of Reham’s family pretty much came and went as they pleased. On the other hand, Imran Khan’s nephews and nieces were made to feel unwelcome.’
It is claimed that Reham was trying to contril every aspect of Imran’s life, which the latter was unhappy with.
Imran Khan, 62, married 42-year-old Reham Khan, a former BBC weather host and a divorced mother of three, in January this year in a simple ceremony at his Islamabad home.
“We have decided to part ways and file for divorce,”Reham Khan said in a brief statement on her Twitter account Friday.
Imran Khan tweeted that it was a “painful time” and that he has “the greatest respect for Reham’s moral character & her passion to work for & help the underprivileged”.
