Imran fears relentless terror attacks until NAP implementation

LAHORE: Imran Khan says there could have been no terror incident had the National Action Plan on counter terrorism was implemented.

Speaking to media in Lahore, Khan said it was incomprehensible why Rangers operation was not being launched in Punjab.

He said every political party had endorsed the NAP, hence it should be implemented now.’

Khan said reforms in Fata were vital to make the most of Zarb-e-Azb operation against terrorists.

He accused Hamza Shahbaz, son of Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, of appointing SHOs sitting at his luxurious home in Raiwand.

He said police structure had been revamped in Khyber Pakhtonkhwa and it was doing better than other provinces.

The PTI chief referred to points in Justice Qazi Faez Isa report and said they shouldn’t be overlooked while efforts for maintaining law and order.

An inquiry commission under the Supreme Court had criticised the federal interior minister, and the Balochistan chief minister and home minister for providing misleading information following a deadly terrorist attack in Quetta which claimed 70 lives and injured as many as 112 people earlier this year. The report was made by one member commission comprising Justice Isa.

On August 8, a powerful explosion ripped through Civil Hospital in Quetta when Balochistan Bar Association President Bilal Kasi’s body was being brought to the emergency department. Kasi was gunned down in a targeted killing earlier that day.

The report requested that Anti Terrorism Act should be implemented
immediately and action be taken against banned organisations.
