PM Imran Khan launches Sehat Card Scheme in tribal districts

MOHMAND AGENCY: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday launched Sehat Insaf Card scheme in tribal districts of erstwhile FATA, ARY News reported.

Addressing tribal elders at Ghalanai, the Headquarters of Mohmand district this afternoon, he said the holder of the card will be entitled to get treatment in any hospital up to seven hundred and twenty thousand rupees annually.

The PM said tribal districts will be developed. Education and job opportunities will be created for tribal youth.

He vowed that government is mulling over how to spend development funds in the tribal districts to uplift living standard of the tribesmen.

Imran Khan said tourism will also be promoted in tribal districts. He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has great potential for tourism and this has helped in reduction of poverty during the last five years.

PM Khan was accompanied by Governor KP Shah Farman and Chief Minister Mehmood Khan on the occasion.

FATA amendment bill

Earlier, a constitutional amendment [The Constitution (Thirty-First Amendment) Bill 2018] for the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was passed in the National Assembly on May 24 – 2018.

Later, the Upper House [Senate] approved the constitutional amendment bill with majority for the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a day after its approval from the Lower House [National Assembly].

The amendment reduces the number of seats in the National Assembly from 342 to 336. The members of the National Assembly from Fata to be elected in the 2018 election shall continue till dissolution of the Lower House. Elections on these provincial legislature seats shall be held within one year after the general elections 2018.
