I was a college student when Imran led national cricket team, quips former CM Sindh

HYDERABAD: Former Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday quipped that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan is way older than he pretends to be as he was leading the national cricket team when the former CM was a college student.

The veteran Pakistan People’s Party leader is known for his witty sense of humour and statements.

“Imran Khan pretends to be younger. If he is not older than me, he is not younger either,” he said speaking to media-persons in Hyderabad.

“When I was studying in college, Imran Khan was the captain.”

Speaking about former prime minister Nawaz Sharif announcement to launch a a movement, he said that it was an easy task and Sharif was unpopular even during his own tenure.

He said that Sharif did not fulfill the promises made with people of Sindh, and therefore the PPP has become the voice of the province and is working for the prosperity and welfare of the province.

The veteran politician resigned as Chief Minister last year and was replaced by Murad Ali Shah. This was third term and had served previously in 1990s. Mr. Shah was born in 1928 to a influential family in Khairpur. He joined the PPP shortly after formation in 1967 due to his close association with Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Imran Khan was born on 5 October 1952 in Lahore. He made his cricket debut in 1971 against England, and was captain intermittently throughout 1982 to 1992 till his eventual retirement after the World Cup.
