Imran Khan's Bani Gala residence declared illegal by CDA

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority has declared the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in Bani Gala as illegal and an encroached area.
The PTI chairman had filed an application in the Supreme Court of Pakistan over the increasing encroachments in the Bani Gala, but instead found his residence in the list.
The CDA submitted its report to the Supreme Court and declared a total of 122 structures including Imran Khan’s residence (bearing number 92) built in violation of the rules of the Islamabad Capital Territory.
The report contains a list of illegal structures and encroachments around Bani Gala, and said that the structures constructed in Zone 3 and 4 need to be razed.
The Bani Gala residential area located at the eastern bank of Rawal Lake has remained controversial since it was established in 2000.
The CDA has imposed Section 144 in Bani Gala and is not collecting waste and garbage from the area. The absence of waste disposal is increasing environmental pollution in the locality.
PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry took exception to the attempts by the CDA against the residence of Imran Khan in Bani Gala.
Speaking to ARY News, Fawad Chaudhry decried the political victimization and said that no matter what the regime does, Imran Khan and PTI will not back out from the Panama Papers case.
“No matter whatever happens, Imran Khan and PTI will not back down from the Panama case,” he said.
He said that Imran Khan’s residence was present there since the last thirteen years, and the land was purchased when the zones created by the CDA were not even present.
He added that Imran Khan has carried the case to the Supreme Court against the encroachments, and was instead being made the victim. He challenged the government from taking any action against his residence.
The Supreme Court will hear suo moto notice over the case against the encroachments on Wednesday. The apex court is also hearing a separate case against the source of funds for the residence.
