Imran tried to make CPEC controversial, says Saad Rafique

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Tuesday said Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan delayed and tried his best to make China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project controversial through his ‘dirty politics’, ARY News reported.
“The sit-in protests of PTI based on lies have marred progress of the country. Earlier, Chinese president could not visit Pakistan due to sit-ins in 2014. He was going to sign deal for investment worth around $46 billion. PTI is responsible for delay in inauguration of CPEC project,” he said during a press briefing in Islamabad.
He also expressed remorse over PTI’s decision to boycott joint session of parliament which is to be addressed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Saad Rafique said we did not have just friendly ties with Turkey but we had brotherly and historical relations with them. The people of Turkey cherish us with great respect.

Erdogan will arrive in Islamabad on a two-day visit on Wednesday. He will be accompanied by a high-level entourage, including ministers and senior officials, besides a large number of business community members.
The Turkish president is also scheduled to address Joint Session of the Parliament besides other high-level meetings.
The federal minister said India played joke at Chairman PTI Imran Khan’s boycotting joint session of parliament on Kashmir last month. He said the government had no time to respond to Imran and Awami Muslim League Chief Sheikh Rasheed. Imran’s politics had damaged Kashmir cause.
He said Pakistani nation condemned Indian aggression. How long would India carry out barbarism through military power on innocent people of Kashmir. Pakistan would endlessly raise voice for Kashmir, he said.
Saad said Khan always asked others to apologise and he himself never got ashamed of his conducts. He said the PTI leader should participate in the joint session of parliament.
“Politics is a business of wise people. It has nothing to do with ego and mud-slinging,” he said.
The Pakistan Muslim League-N leader suggested that Imran should quit politics and start coaching for fast bowling.
“Since inception of Imran’s politics, he is playing the same game of putting hurdle in development,” he said.
He also said Imran shamelessly supported a Jewish candidate in London mayor elections against a Pakistani candidate.
