India breached agreement, used artillery fire after 13 years: DG ISPR

ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa on Monday said that Indian army has used artillery fire in the recent ceasefire violations breaching a 2003 agreement between the two countries, ARY News reported.

“It is a pattern, and it is clear, they (India) are escalating tensions; first they used small arms, then they used mortar fire, now they have used artillery fire,” Asim Bajwa said while speaking to ARY News anchor Arshad Sharif.

He added that when Indian army violates ceasefire agreement, they start it from bordering villages.

The DG ISPR claimed that India has violated the ceasefire agreement 237 times in the year 2016 alongside Line Of Control and working boundary, out of which 37 were committed after September as Pakistan highlighted the Kashmir issue at United Nations in the same month.

“Pakistan has never violated the ceasefire agreement but whenever Indian forces have done it, we have retaliated with full force,” said Bajwa.

Indian casualties three times more than Pakistan’s

The head of military’s media wing said that Pakistan, only in its retaliation, has damaged Indian forces more than the loss Pakistan suffered.

“Indian casualties are three times more than Pakistan’s; Indians hide their casualties and the figures they have shown till today is one-third less than the actual damage they suffered,” said Bajwa.

At least seven Pakistani soldiers were killed on Sunday night during cross-border firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in Bhimber sector.

“Pakistani troops while responding to Indian unprovoked firing targetted Indian posts effectively,” an ISPR statement said.
