NEW DELHI: Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj issued a statement in the Parliament on Kulbhushan Jhadav – an Indian spy caught on espionage, terror incitement charges in Pakistan and now given death sentence – , saying India will “go out of the way” to save him.
Speaking on the floor of the House today, Swaraj claimed that there was no evidence of any wrongdoing by Kulbhushan Jadhav. This is an act of premeditated murder, she added.
“I would caution the Pakistan government to consider the consequences for our bilateral relationship if they proceed on this matter,” says Swaraj.
The minister also called the convicted spy “son of India”.

He underlined: “The Indian government will do whatever possible for Kulbhushan Jadhav, want to assure all that justice will be done with him.”
Meanwhile, New Delhi also summoned Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit and handed over a demarche describing the court proceedings as “farcical” and put on hold the release of several Pakistani prisoners, scheduled for Wednesday.
India denied the charge, said the hanging will be “premeditated murder” if carried out.
The military court, which passed the sentence on Monday, charged Jadhav with being a R&AW agent who was fuelling the Baloch separatist movement and attempting to sabotage the $46-billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The man, named by the army as Kulbushan Sudhir Jadhav who also goes by the alias Hussein Mubarak Patel, was arrested in Balochistan last year.
The military court in Pakistan awarded death sentence to Jhadav yesterday for his involvement in sabotage activities.
He confessed before a Magistrate and the Court that he was tasked by Indian spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) to plan, coordinate and organize espionage/sabotage activities aiming to destabilize and wage war against Pakistan by impeding the efforts of law enforcement agencies for restoring peace in Balochistan and Karachi.
