Indian citizen jailed for changing his name to Osama Bin Laden

NEW DELHI: An Indian citizen’s attempt to impersonate Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden landed him in jail in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, Indian media reports said.

SP Chanchal Mishra of Rajasthan Police said Saddam Hussain, 35, in a bid to adopt a unique identity wrote Osama Bin Laden’s name instead of his with the Al Qaeda leader’s picture affixing on a form to change identity.

In the column of address, Saddam Hussain wrote the address of Laden’s residence in Abbotabad, a Pakistani city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The police said they detected the fake identity as the form didn’t bear Laden’s fingerprints and signature.

Subsequently, they took the man into custody and registered a case against him.
