Indian envoy calls on Imran Khan, hopes to improve relations

ISLAMABAD: Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Mr. Ajay Bisaria on Friday called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and prime minister-in-waiting Imran Khan.

Indian deputy commissioner J.P. Singh also accompanied the Indian envoy. PTI vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry, Naeem-ul-Haq and Shireen Mazari were also present on the occasion.

The Indian envoy congratulated Imran Khan on his election victory, and gave a message of felicitation  on behalf on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Imran Khan expressed concerns over the alarming human rights situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir. He hoped that the next SAARC Summit will be hosted in Islamabad.

Mr. Bisaria said that the recent telephonic conversation between Modi with Imran Khan has raised hopes that India’s relations with Pakistan will move forward in a positive direction.

He also presented a bat to the PTI chief as a token of gesture with autographs of cricketers of the Indian national team.

Imran Khan has received diplomats from various countries since he emerged victorious in the general elections. This includes dignitaries from the United Kingdom, United States, UAE, Iran, China and Russia.
