Shakirullah’s killing: Indian jail superintendent nominated in FIR, says FO

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office on Thursday said that Indian jail superintendent has been nominated in the First Investigation Report (FIR) filed against the killing of Pakistani citizen who was brutally martyred under custody in Jaipur jail, ARY News reported.

A First Investigation Report has been filed which nominated Indian jail officer over the killing of Pakistani inmate Shakirullah, said FO spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal in a statement.

He said that the Pakistan Embassy was not invited during the post-mortem of its citizen by the Indian authorities.

The spokesperson added that Islamabad will raise the matter relating to Shakirullah’s killing before the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and every international forum.

Post-mortem report

The post-mortem report released of a Pakistani national, Shakirullah, had revealed on March 3 that he died owing to a grievous head injury.

The report had been compiled by a six-member team of medical experts under the stewardship of the Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital’s medical superintendent.

Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari had announced on March 04 that Pakistan would raise the case of Shakirullah at the international level. Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif had also called for registering a death case in Pakistan and said the issue should also be raised at the global forums.

India handed over the body of Shakirullah

India handed over the body of Pakistani prisoner Shakirullah who was brutally martyred inside a Jaipur jail to Pakistan officials at Wagah border crossing on Saturday evening.

Shakirullah was killed by other inmates at Rajasthan’s Jaipur Central Jail on February 20.

Shakirullah was subjected to severe torture in the prison of Rajasthan’s capital city of Jaipur by other inmates, which led to his death on spot.
