International Day for Disables and their potrayal in bollywood

Bollywood now is setting a new trend by making protagonist with disbility in the film. The movies being made today on disabled people, have moved away from the common pity model to the courageous role model.  More movies should be made so that the disables also become an active player of the society.

Khamoshi:

The directorial debut of ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was Khamoshi a musical film. The film with the star cast, Minisha koirala, Salman khan, Nana Patekar, Seema Biswa and Helen. The story of the film is about a christian deaf and mute couple and their physically fit daughter. The daughter who was actually the social link of the disbled couple to the outer world fall in love a hindu guy. The film is a emotional drama that tells the sufferings of diasbled people.

Black:

The super hit film of 2005 Black starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherji bagged many awards of that year. The film was about a blind and deaf girl who lost her eyesight and hearing at the age of two. The story is based on the courage of the girl and abilities of her tutor who made her the first(deaf and dumb) person who did graduation from university.

Hrithik Roshan in this movie played the role of a mentally disabled guy. The movie highlight the social trauma of our society where people make fun of people with any kind of disability. However, the film revolves around an unrealistic visit of an alien with a psychokinetic energy who made the abnormal boy normal by enhancing his mind.

The film was about an eight years old child suffering from dyslexia. Dyslexia or development reading disorder is a most common learning disability The sufferer of this disorder face difficulty with learning to read, comprehension of language despite having above average intelligence level.The kid in this film faced same difficulty which was later observed by his art teacher, who improved his skills by teaching him with remedial techniques.The film gives the lesson that how can you overcome this common disability by giving a little more attention and care to the child.

The most critically acclaimed film of 2012 Barfi was a romantic comedy drama of a deaf and mute man named Barfi and a girl suffering from autism spectrum a neurodevelopmental disorder.The film portrayed a positive image of physically disabled people and also depicted the true story of society.
