ISLAMABAD: Chief Selector Pakistan Cricket Team Inzamam ul Haq and West Indies bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed on Sunday called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan at his house in Bani Gala and prayed for his success as a statesman.

Both the former cricketers have played under the cricketer-turned-politician’s captaincy in 1992 World Cup, the only ODI World Cup that Pakistan have won so far.

Talking to media following the meeting, Inzamam said, “Not just cricketers but the entire nation has big hopes from Imran.”

Mushtaq said Allah (SWT) had rewarded Imran for his 22 years of struggle.

“We pray for Imran that may he succeed in his goal. The entire nation needs to support him against all the challenges that lie in wait for him,” he said.

It is pertinent to note here that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has emerged as the largest political party in the country after the July 25 general elections, winning 115 of the 270 National Assembly seats on which the elections were held.

The party, however, is short of the 137 needed for simple majority and is trying to woo independents to join the party.

PTI spokesman Naeemul Haque on Saturday told reporters that the party chief would take oath as prime minister before August 14.
