Court sends three ‘fake media persons’ to jail

ISLAMABAD: The police on Saturday presented three deceivers before the district and sessions court Islamabad who are facing charges of looting people using the name of media, ARY News reported.

The cops of Golra Police Station presented the accused –identified as Adnan, Sajjad and Rabab – before the court headed by Judge Adnan Rasheed.

Police informed the court that suspects had created fake identity cards to portray themselves as a media person. They were involved in looting money from people using the name of media channels.

Police requested the court to grant physical remand of the accused persons so further investigation could be conducted.

After arguments from the police counsel, the court ordered to send the accused to jail on a judicial remand. The Secretariat Police Station had arrested the three men on Friday.

Last year in Islamabad, police had arrested three imposters posing as journalists who were blackmailing a school principal.

Syed Rizwan, lodged a complaint with Saddar Barooni police that Rizwan Bukhari, Muhammad Rasheed and Abdul Moeed, claiming to be journalists , were blackmailing him and demanding Rs 15,000 while threatening him to close down his business by publishing stories.

Taking action on the complaint police have arrested fake journalists and a case has been registered against them.
