Motorist killed allegedly after breaking through police blockade

ISLAMABAD: A motorist was killed and another person was injured on Wednesday when federal police in Rawal Town fired at car which reportedly did not stop at a check point when intercepted, ARY News reported.

Islamabad police claimed that a vehicle broke through the police check point and was pursued by two policemen but it persistently ignored the signals to stop.

Subsequently, the policemen allegedly opened fire at the car which claimed the life of one person and injured another. However, no further details with regard to their identification could be ascertained immediately.

According to ARY News reporter Zulqarnain Haider, police opened fire on white Suzuki Mehran allegedly on disregarding police signals. However, eyewitnesses on the spot refuted police claims and claimed that police shot bullets at motorist without any warning firing.

The second occupant of the car was injured in the police firing who was rushed to nearby hospital. Meantime, police have claimed that warning shots were fired. Eyewitnesses claimed that the shots were fired through the front wind screen, claiming life of the motorist.
