Actress Jacqueline Fernandez has been heavily criticised on social media after being spotted “smiling” at the funeral of megastar Sridevi.
She was photographed outside the Celebration Sports Club in Mumbai on Wednesday where several celebrities came to pay their last respects to the iconic actress who died on Saturday in Dubai.
However, Jacqueline was caught smiling presumably while greeting a colleague, and the grinning was considered inappropriate at the sombre event and she is getting trolled for it.
Before cremation, Sridevi’s mortal remains were kept in Celebration Sports Club for three hours. Sridevi died due to “accidental drowning,” in her hotel room in UAE on Saturday night.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Rekha, Vidya Balan, Shahid Kapoor and wife Mira Rajput, Hema Malini and her daughter Esha Deol, and several other celebrities paid tribute to Sridevi as did Jacqueline.
But the actress’ vibrant grin is what Twitter found rather distasteful. Jacqueline has been deemed as “shameless” and “insane” for what the internet presumed as disrespect at Sridevi’s meet.
Some opined that Jacqueline probably was solely bothered about media coverage and attended the meet as an act of formality.
“If you don’t have respect for departed soul then avoid going for last rites just for the sake of media coverage,” wrote one user.
Some even said that she is not from India so maybe she doesn’t know the reaction towards the funeral. However, some users said that she forgot that she was not going to an award show with a big smile.
