JARANWALA: Police have arrested a lawyer who smashed the head of a senior civil judge with a chair during proceedings in a court in Jaranwala.
According to police, advocate Imran Mani has been taken into custody for allegedly attacking the civil judge, Khalid Mehmood Waraich, with a chair over a minor dispute. He had escaped the scene following the incident.
Subsequently, a first information report of the incident was registered against the culprit.
Enraged at the lawyer’s behaviour, judges had announced strike against the incident. Besides, the Tehsil Bar Jaranwala announced disassociation with the advocate.
The Punjab Bar Council was also approached to revoke the legal licence of the culprit.

It is noteworthy that lawyers had allegedly thrashed a warden and an assistant warden for trying to issue them a challan over violation of traffic rules earlier this month.
The traffic wardens reportedly stopped lawyers in a car on Jail Road over using a cellphone while driving and not fastening a seatbelt.
The warden tried to issue a challan over the violations. However, the lawyers resisted and this led to an exchange of hot words between them. The lawyers ended up beating the wardens.
