KARACHI: Following request of the federal government, Twitter has blocked Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi’s official and verified account on “violation of the Twitter Rules”.

In a reaction to this news, former wife of Prime Minister Imran Khan, who seems to have been closely observing the unfolding of recent events in Pakistan in the wake of the Supreme Court’s acquittal of Asia Bibi, appreciated Twitter through a post.

She said, “Something good happened today. Well done @Twitter”

The government had approached the popular micro blogging website seeking suspension of Rizvi’s account over inciteful speeches during the recent protests.

Earlier, Twitter had refused to comply with the government’s request to block the TLP chief’s Twitter account.
