Jets pound NWA hideouts; 25 'militants' killed

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the air strikes were carried out in Shanzla and Tirah Valley.

Seven hideouts of militants were also destroyed in the attack.

The government has strengthened its anti-terror strategy in the wake of a December 16 attack on an army-run school in Peshawar that killed 153 people, 134 of them children.

Its troops have been engaged in a full-scale offensive against Taliban and other militants in NorthWaziristan and Khyber tribal districts since earlier last year.

Attacks in general have decreased since the offensive and a red alert against terrorism in the country overall, but security forces still face challenges from scattered and targeted attempted assaults on sensitive military and civil installations.
