The Machh Jail authorities have received JIT’s notification today.
Mirza was sentenced to death by an anti-terrorism court in May 1999 for murdering the managing director of then Karachi Electric Supply Corporation Shahid Hamid, his driver Ashraf Brohi and guard Khan Akbar in July 1997.
Home Minister of Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti has directed the jail authorities to fully cooperate with members of JIT.
DIG Ameer Shaikh will head JIT formed to investigate video statement of Saulat Mirza. JIT has been asked to submit investigation report to Interior Ministry within seven days.
JIT includes one member each from Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and investigation Police.
The JIT has been formed on the advice of Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
