KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) chief Farooq Sattar on Saturday said that carrying out an attack on the judiciary in own government would certainly not be in the best interest of democracy.
Referring to the last day incident, Farooq Sattar said that the clashes within the court premises would set a negative trend. “This is [a] deplorable act,” he remarked while talking to journalists outside Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) after appearing before the court in ‘hate speech case’.
He said such incidents would further escalate chaos and confrontation among the state institutions, adding: “This will eventually harm the democracy.”
Taking an aim at the opponents, Sattar renewed his earlier claims while asserting that the party members were being threatened to change their loyalties.
The crackdown against party workers and supporters is still ongoing with the same intensity, he claimed.
Earlier, the party’s top leadership in a meeting resolved to unseat the party legislators from assemblies over changing their allegiance.
On Friday, Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Mehmood Abdul Razzaq dissociated himself with the MQM-P and joined the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).
Former MQM-P MPA from PS-116 constituency met Chairman PSP Mustafa Kamal and President PSP Anees Qaimkhani in Samaro town of Umerkot district.
Abdul Razzaq said corruption and leg-pulling was ongoing within party for the last one and a half years.
“Statements of MQM-P leaders are often conflicting, hence, it was not possible for me to work for the betterment of Sindh,” he added.
