Junior Hockey World Cup: Pakistan beats India to claim 9th position

NEW DELHI: Pakistan’s junior hockey team has grabbed the ninth position in Junior Hockey World Cup by defeating India on penalty shootout, ARY News reported on Saturday.

Both India and Pakistan failed to qualify for the quarter-finals from their respective groups. India beat Argentina 4-2 in the earlier playoff game and Pakistan crushed South Africa by 4-0 to get a chance to play for the 9th-10th positions.

A close competition witnessed between the two sides. Both of them started off aggressively attacking the goal post of the opponents. Pakistan scored a goal of the match in the first half of the match and maintained the lead till end of first half.

India leveled the scored in second half and led the match towards penalty shootout.

Pakistan clinched the ninth position by beating India with 4-2 in penalty strokes.
