Justice Saqib Nisar takes oath as new Chief Justice of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Justice Mian Saqib Nisar sworn in as the new chief justice of Pakistan here on Saturday, ARY News reported.
President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath of office to Justice Mian Saqib Nisar as the new Chief Justice in an oath-taking ceremony.
Justice Nisar is the 25th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan as Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali retired on December 30 after completing his tenure of 15 months.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, members of the cabinet, judges of the Supreme Court, distinguished lawyers and services chiefs were present on the occasion.
Born in Lahore on January 18, 1954 Justice Saqib Nisar achieved his degree in law from University of Punjab. The new CJP will hold the top judicial office of the country till January 17, 2019.
The formation of a larger bench to hear the Panamagate case will be one of a few immediate tasks of the new chief justice.
Justice Nisar, who will hold office of the top judge of the country for over two years, will reconstitute the bench for repeat hearing of a politically sensitive case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family.
