LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has grabbed a significant success in the Kacha operation and busted an arms supply network targeting police forces and other crimes, ARY News reported on Monday.
An organised network of illegal arms supplies was busted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) during the anti-bandit operation in the kacha areas. The CTD claimed to have arrested an alleged member of an illegal arms supplier namely Abdul Khaliq who was providing arms and ammunition to notorious gangs.
The CTD officials told the media that two rocket launchers were also recovered during an intelligence-based operation.
During interrogation, the accused Abdul Khaliq made startling revelations about the supply of arms and ammunition. He told the investigators that the illegal supply of modern weapons and explosives was continued through Rakhni – Balochistan.
“Both notorious gangs recruited assailants Ramzan Bugti and Sattar Pitafi for purchasing arms. Sattar Pitafi’s brother Javed Pitafi acted as a facilitator to finalise a deal with an arms smuggler Khan Masori.”
“Rocket launchers and propellers were purchased from Khan Masori Bugti and the payment was made through an online banking app. The weapons were transported from Rakhni to Hajipur and Rajanpur. Later, the weapons were shifted to another location on a motorcycle with the help of two locals,” the CTD officials revealed.
The officials said that other persons behind the supply chain of illegal arms will also be arrested soon.
