KARACHI: After staging sit-ins in front of Karachi Press Club for over two weeks, Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chairman Mustafa Kamal would lead a ‘Million March’ on Sunday to demand of basic rights, ARY News reported.
In a video message, the PSP chairman appealed residents of the metropolis for maximum participation in the rally.
“Karachiites! I am calling on you to participate in the rally to lodge a protest against ongoing civic issues. I am not making this appeal to cast a vote for me but for addressing the basic rights which you all have been deprived of: power outages, water shortfall, and poor governance”, he said while drawing the attention towards the lingering issues in the city.”
The PSP rally will be taken out from the FTC building on Shara-e-Faisal to Chief Minister House in red zone of the city. Kamal said that the provincial government has curtailed the powers of local bodies, resulting in deterioration of infrastructure in the city.
In a press conference earlier, Kamal had criticised the government for neglecting his party’s 18-day protest sit-in outside the KPC. “A government delegation contacted us twice but instead of resolving our issues they tried to befool people”, he said.
Section 114 imposed in Karachi’s Red Zone
The provincial government has imposed Section 114 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in the Red Zone of the city on Sunday, ahead of an announced march to the Chief Minister’s house in the city’s red zone.
It is pertinent to mention that Section 114 prohibits the assembly of more than four people in an area.
