KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chairman Mustafa Kamal on Sunday credited his party’s efforts to highlight civic issues as the reason for the increased activism by various political parties in Karachi.

Addressing  a press conference during a visit to the Jamia Binoria seminary, Kamal said the party’s one year long efforts have finally gripped the attention of political parties towards civic issues of the city.

Expressing satisfaction on ongoing campaigns of various political parties over civic issues, Kamal opined it a positive sign as political parties got active after they  raised voice for deprivation of fundamental rights without considering creed, ethnicity and language.

“Situation of Karachi is such despite the (presence of) Muttahida,” he said criticising the Mutahida Quami Movement (MQM). “If the situation remains the same then Karachi will not be fit for living.”

However, Kamal said that they do not want any confrontation with anyone, and instead want to carry all parties forward together.

He invited Jamia Binoria founder Mufti Naeem to participate in the ‘Million March’ on May 14, and said that everyone should take part in it as the campaign is for every resident of the city.

Mufti Naeem, while accepting the invitation, also lauded Kamal’s efforts for highlighting civic issues peacefully, and lamented  government’s negligence since last eight to ten years deteriorating the infrastructure in the city.

He said that he didn’t belong to any political party, but appreciated the efforts of Kamal. He also expressed hope that Kamal and MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar will develop mutual trust and understanding between themselves.
