Kapil Sharma remembers old days, shares success story

Indian stand-up comedian and actor Kapil Sharma recently spoke about his success story and the struggle which resulted in this success, as he move from oblivion to one of the great comedians in the country.

Kapil is best known for his hit a television comedy show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ which was aired from from June 2013 to January 2016, and ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ on Sony Entertainment which is currently under a hiatus.

Kapil rose to fame after winning the comedy reality television show “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge”.

In an interview with News18 India, Kapil revealed how he was rejected for the initial audition for the show held in his native city Amritsar.

“The one conducting the audition was speaking in fluent English. I was given just two minutes, and I tanked and was rejected,” he said.

Later, he travelled to New Delhi to the audition for the same show and was selected. “I should thank those who performed before me. They performed really terrible,” he quipped.

Then, he participated in Sony’s Comedy Circus and went on to win six seasons of the show. Kapil said that nothing was planned and everything just went with the flow. “You should be sincere in your work. The marks will be given by the people.”

Later, he came up with the concept of “Comedy Nights” and received immense outpour of respect and appreciation from his fans and followers. After a successful run of three years, Kapil decided to wind up the show after differences with the channel. The last episode aired on 24 January 2016.

The Kapil Sharma Show started airing in April 2016 and received a positive response from the viewers.

He also came to Mumbai much earlier in 2002 to continue his struggle but was unsure where to get a headway and loitered around the house of Amitabh Bachchan and popular hangout Juhu Beach, until he was told by his friend to visit production houses in Andheri East area of Mumbai.

He also narrated an interesting incident when he called his mother to tell him that he was outside Amitabh Bachchan’s place. “What is Bachchan-jee saying,” she asked evoking laughter from audience members.
