Karachi Blues, Lahore Whites beat city rivals in National T20 Cup

Karachi Blues edged past Karachi Whites by nine runs in the opening match of the tournament.

Karachi Blues, electing to bat first, scored 158 for loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs as opener Shahzaib Hasan was the top scorer with 60 runs from 50 deliveries with six boundaries and a six to his name.

Bilawal Bhatti hit two sixes and a four to score 21 runs from 10 balls whereas skipper Khalid Latif and Mohammad Sami scored 17 and 15 runs respectively for the side.

Mir Hamza, Tabish Khan and Azam Hussain grabbed two wickets each for Karachi Whites.

Chasing 159 runs to win, Karachi Whites fell nine runs short of the target as they managed 149/8 in their alloted 20 overs. Tariq Haroon made 28 runs with the help of three maximums and a four.

Skipper Akbar-ur-Rehman and Sohail Khan contributed 25 runs each with the blade.

Mohammad Sami grabbed three wickets for Karachi Blues while Bilawal Bhatti and Saeed Ajmal took two wickets each for the side.

Shahzaib Hasan was named the Player of the match.

Lahore Whites outclassed Lahore Blues by nine wickets and 21 balls remaining in the second match of the day.

Lahore Blues, invited to take guard first, scored 182/5 in their 20 overs. Naved Yasin made 53 runs from 40 balls with six boundaries and a six whereas Nasir Jamshed scored 46 runs from 20 balls with the help of seven boundaries and two maximums.

Nauman Anwar and Saad Nasim scored 28 and 26 runs for the Blues.

Amad Butt dismissed three Lahore Blues batsmen whereas Kashif Bhatti and Kamran Ghulam took a wicket each.

Lahore Whites, chasing 183 runs to win, reached the target in just 16.3 overs with nine wickets to spare. Salman Butt scored 84 runs from 55 balls with 13 boundaries and two sixes while skipper Kamran Akmal hit 81 runs from 40 balls with 11 fours and two maximums to his name.

Imran Ali took the only wicket for Lahore Blues.

Kamran Akmal was named the Player of the match.
