KARACHI: Police on Monday arrested a young man for allegedly murdering a five-year-old kid in Ittehad Town area of the city over a minor dispute with the victim’s father, ARY News reported.

According to police, the man named Naimat Tahir confessed that he strangulated to death Sabir Khan, the five-year-old son of his neighbour Zahir Shah, for Zahir Shah slapped him a month ago over some minor dispute.

“He (Sabir’s father) beat me and my brother for no reason,” Naimat Tahir told police in a confessional video statement, adding that the incident prompted him to kill Sabir.

Five-year-old kid Sabir Khan went missing on March 28, Wednesday and his dead body was found on the very same day after which his father registered a First Information Report in Ittehad Town police station naming neighbour Naimat Tahir as suspect.

Zahir Shah maintained in FIR that he left his home on March 28 at about 8AM for work but was informed by his brother at about 1PM that his son Sabir is missing since 10AM in the morning upon which he returned home and started searching for his son.

“I was looking for my son when I saw that my neighbour Naimat Tahir’s house is locked, as I peeped inside, I saw my son’s slippers, (later) children from our locality told me that there is a body bag lying in a ford. I went into the ford, opened the body bag to find my son’s body with ropes tied around his neck and hands,” reads the FIR.

He had added that he suspects Naimat Tahir has killed his son over “personal enmity”.
