Karachi: Several civic issues linger after three days of rain

KARACHI: The heavy rainfall in the metropolis has come to a halt for last three days but the municipal authorities are still struggling to dewater the city and repair the damaged roads.

Albeit, the downpour has brought down the mercury considerably, providing the citizens a respite from scorching heat but the negligence of the city administration has added difficulties of people.

Piles of garbage and slimy mud are seen scattered on the roads with insufficient arrangements of uplifting it which may most likely spread diseases in the neighbourhood.

The staying water on different arteries and damaged roads are also causing disruption in the traffic flow.

All the relevant local government organizations including district municipal corporations have failed to cope with the situation despite an emergency has been imposed in the city.

Met office has predicted new monsoon rain spell from July 5 and if no timely measures are taken, the appalling situation would take a dreadful turn.
