Karachi: Golimar underpass to be completed by Jan 15

KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar has said the construction work of the Golimar underpass would be completed by Jan 15.

Speaking to media here, Akhtar said completion of the underpass will end frequent gridlocks being braved by citizens for years.

Akhtar said he wanted the underpass to be named after some renowned personality, adding that it should be someone who had contributed enormously to the betterment of our society.

The mayor said the Rs450 million underpass was 375 metres long and eight metres wide.

He said construction of the underpass was being delayed for unknown reasons, “but it’s now in the final phase of completion.”

Its construction was delayed for some time for certain reasons, which had been successfully resolved, he added.
