KARACHI: Inspector-General (IG) of Police Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, has summoned an emergency meeting over the rising street crimes in Karachi, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
According to details, the IG Sindh has summoned relevant police officials Additional Inspector-General (AIG) office in the metropolis over rising street crimes. All police officials are directed to attend the meeting.
The meeting will discuss the rising incidents of killings in robbery resistance while the matter of installation of cameras in police uniforms will also come under discussion.
Zonal Deputy Inspector-Generals (DIGs) and DIG CIA will Ghulam Nabi Memon on the city’s current situation. Details regarding the arrest of criminals and drug peddlers was also sought.
Meanwhile, the heads of all the specialised units will also submit performance reports to IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon.

It is pertinent to mention here that street crime witnessed a sharp increase in Karachi as almost 263 incidents were reported daily in the city, stated a report issued by Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC).
According to the report issued by CPLC, almost 263 incidents were reported daily basis in the month of August, showing that the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have failed to overcome criminal activities in the metropolis.
Earlier on September 5, three station house officers (SHOs) of Sindh police in Karachi were suspended over their alleged failure to control street crime.
According to details, three SHOs of Korangi Districts were suspended on the orders of Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) East. The move comes after citizens were killed over resisting robbery within the limits of three police stations in Korangi District.
