Karachi mayor could be released if proven innocent: CM Sindh

“Nobody could be given permission to work against law and constitution of the country,” he said while talking to newsmen in Karachi after attending the concluding ceremony of Urs of prominent Sufi Saint Abdullah Shah Ghazi.

He said innocent workers of MQM will be released if they were still in police custody. He said he did not believe in the policy of revenge and violence.

“The Sindh government respects rights of everyone. However, nobody will be allowed to take law into hands,” he said.

Murad said the ongoing operation in Karachi had yielded positive results and efforts were still underway to improve the law and order. He said every criminal will face charges as per law.

He said National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should not carry out raids in vain. He said the Sindh government was ready to work with any democratic party that is working within limits of the constitution.

“Your job is to investigate small cases,” he said.

Replying to a question, he said that he did not know whether the NAB has summoned Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durani or not but “I would advise NAB to stop this kind of witch-hunting. This harassment is against their mandate – this is the job of Anti- Corruption Establishment (ACE),” he said and added that his government was going to further strengthen ACE.

“Police is being made dynamic so that help is not sought from any other institution,” he said.

Earlier, he laid floral wreath and ‘chaddar’ over Mazar of Abdullah Shah Ghazi and offered Fateha.
