Karachi, other parts of lower Sindh to receive rainfall from tonight: MET office

KARACHI: Monsoon currents are penetrating southern parts of the country and another spell of rain and thunderstorms is likely to hit Karachi and other parts of lower Sindh from Friday night, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said in a forecast.

Seasonal low lies over north Balochistan and monsoon currents are likely to continue penetrating for the next two to three days in southern parts of the country, the met office predicted in a weather report.

According to the met office, rain/dust-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls are expected at scattered places in Lower Sindh’s Mirpur Khas, Hyderabad and Karachi divisions. The wet spell will likely to continue till Monday.

A system of monsoon rains will re-enter in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir from Monday.

Rainfall also expected at scattered places in D.G Khan, Zhob, Kalat, Malakand, Hazara divisions, FATA & Kashmir within 24 hours.

Rain-thunderstorm occurred at a number of places in MirpurKhas divisions and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, Karachi, Makran, divisions & Gilgit-Baltistan.

In Sindh Islam Kot received 57 mm rainfall, while Mithi 21 mm, Diplo 20 mm, Chhor 16 mm, Nagarparker 14, Chhachhro 12, Dahli 08 and Karachi’s Gulshan e Hadeed 01 mm.

In FATA Parachinar received 30 mm, while in Kashmir Rawalakot 10 mm, Muzaffarabad 05 mm, Garhi Dupatta 04 mm, Kotli 03 mm.
