Karachi: Sindh CM inaugurates Golimar Underpass

KARACHI: Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah inaugurated Golimar Underpass in Karachi on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar, Provincial Minister for Local Bodies Jam Khan Shoro and other provincial ministers were present during the ceremony.

Golimar Underpass links Nazimabad Chowrangi to Jahangirabad and Liaquatabad. It has been completed at the cost of Rs. 450 millions, government sources said.

Chief Minister Shah, speaking on the occasion, said that development projects are being completed at a fast pace and the government has targeted to complete them by June this year.

Clarifying the issue of city mayor’s powers, the chief minister said that only those powers can be given to a mayor which are mentioned in the constitution. He said, “I am a chief minister and cannot ask the powers which a prime minister has.”

Mayor Karachi speaking in the inauguration ceremony stated that Sindh can only progress if Karachi progresses.

He also said that the provincial government will ensure peace in Karachi.

The mayor said that Golimar Underpass has been named “Sadequain Underpass” on the recommendation of the Chief Minister of Sindh.
